Other sources of support
These pages provide information about funding that is available to registered students at the University of Cambridge who find themselves in need of extra financial assistance after starting their course. This funding is additional to statutory and other government support.
The information may also prove useful to the parents/guardians/advisers of students, as well as to College Tutors and other members of University staff.
Prospective students, or registered students seeking funding to begin a new course, should visit the undergraduate funding or postgraduate funding pages. You may also wish to visit the Cambridge Students' Union's Student Advice Service website. Loan Fund I is closed for new applications, but existing borrowers should contact [email protected] with any queries about their loan.
Please note that the Sheikh Family Bursaries are no longer available.
Financial assistance from the University
The University's Financial Assistance Funds are limited and receive a high volume of applications. You should speak to your College Tutor and explore all other sources, including funds available from your normal funder and from your College, before approaching the University for support.

The Undergraduate Financial Assistance Fund is for current undergraduate students facing exceptional and unexpected financial need.
Postgraduate Financial Assistance Fund is for postgraduate students facing exceptional and unexpected financial need.
